It must have seemed like science fiction in the early 70’s when Livio Furini had his quirky idea, based on the model of American theme parks, of designing and building something similar near Lake Garda.

But Gardaland, over the years has continued to evolve and has made great steps forward. In 1975, when it opened, the park covered 90 thousand square metres and the entrance ticket cost less than two thousand lire.

Today Gardaland is one of the most popular theme parks in Europe, with about 3 million visitors a year and an area of more than 450 thousand square metres.
